According to the President of Sony Computer Entertainment, Hiroshi Kawano, the PlayStation 4 controller design was only finalized a few days before the conference, so it makes sense that we have yet to see the system. Of course, this does not mean that Sony has no idea where it wants to go with the design of the PS4; it just means the design has not yet been finalized, which is to be expected for a device that still has several months to go before it releases. PS4 May Block Used Games After All - February 21st, 2013 Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide, stated earlier today that the PlayStation 4 will not block used games outright. However, in a follow-up press conference, he has now stated that the company will give outside publishers the opportunity to apply restrictions on used content, such as not allowing used copies of their games to play on the PS4 at all. Keep in mind that the statement was open-ended, so it's unclear if he is referring to the online pass that developers currently use with the PlayStation 3: a feature that restricts certain aspects of game, normally the multiplayer mode, to gamers unless they buy an unlock key. It is anticipated that Sony will soon clarify Yoshida's statements so that we have a definitive answer to this hot issue. PS4 Confirmed Launch Lineup and Backwards Compatibility Information - February 21st, 2013 While Sony did not confirm which of the PlayStation 4's games at last night's conference were going to launch with the system, developers and publishers unveiled which of their games were going to appear with the launch of the PS4 once the conference ended via outside blogs and websites. Currently, three games are slated for the PS4 launch: 1. Killzone: Shadow Fall by Guerrilla Games, a PS4 exclusive 2. Driveclub by Evolution Studios 3. Watch Dogs by Ubisoft In addition, Witcher 4 has now been confirmed as a PlayStation 4 game though it will not appear at the launch of the PS4. In an interview after the conference with selected journalists, Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide, announced that there is no hardware backwards compatibility on the PS4 but that other options are being looked into.
